Wizard of the Coast are in the Works of Banning Original Fan Content

I have no clue about D&D to be honest but I did a lot of Fanarts and saw a lot going on in Fandom spaces and this is a topic that comes up again and again. Making money off of already established titles is and always was a big grey zone. Companies/Copyright holders accepted it as it was free advertisement for the work/brand but in the end you are only ever on the safe side if you truly created something original on your own, may that be characters or a whole universe with races ect. (if you want to make money with it).

I remember an uproar when one of my fav fantasy authors (GRRM) said he "hates fanfiction", though as I looked into the source and reading his blog post I got a new perspective on it. It's not the same situation as there's a company involved here but the base of the "issue" remains the same imo. He also brings up legal problems of similar ideas which might (??) be another reason. Or association of any fanworks that include questionable contents.
