Dragonfly

The Burger:

Holy hell, I'll just preface this - If you don't get this burger, you are missing out. The beer pairing is good, but it's a Garage Project pilsner (Hakituri), so how off the mark would it realistically be paired with fried chicken? I'd get it just because it's delicious, period, but not necessarily because it's an inspired or original pairing.

The burger, though. Oooohhhh my god. A curry-spiced bun, bright yellow even in the dim lighting, studded with cumin seeds like WHAT. It did not fuck around.

What's better was the bun didn't even overpower the rest of the burger, which was -amazing-. The lemongrass chicken was a little over-fried, but not by much, and it had a very satisfying crunch and mass to it. They did not skimp on the meat.

Normally that much meat might choke me, but there was more than enough moisture to compensate. This burger was so, so saucy, and all the sauce was divine. You had spicy peach chutney doing a savoury-sweet tango with a peanut satay mayonnaise, and some run-off from the chillified coleslaw.

The sauce does rather run right out of the burger and onto the plate, so make sure you hold the back end of it securely - or, just do what I did. On the last bites I had, I picked out the big mass of fried chicken that was left and dipped in in the sauce, and then I used the top of the bun to soak up the rest on the plate.

On that note, the only downside(?) to the sheer amount of sauce was that the bottom of the bun will become saturated with it, if you place it back down on your plate and onto the sauce 'drippings'. To me, though, this wasn't a bug, it was a feature. But I'm hot for sauces, so YMMV.

The chili coleslaw was just what it was supposed to be - an accompaniment that didn't show up the other parts of the burger. Didn't stand out any more than it should.

You -will- be placing your burger back down on the plate, by the way, because this creation is accompanied by some very more-ish wonton chips with spicy, nam-jim/togarashi-ish sweet chili dipping sauce. For the love of burgers, get this one. Knocks Apache off it's feet.

BONUS ROUND: Cocktail:

...And get the pineapple lump cocktail while you're at it. The glass holds a little less than I'd like for $20, but it's original and delicious, so just bloody do it anyway. The chambord jelly is delightful and imaginative, and I say this as someone who typically turns up their nose at jelly.
