I woke up this morning and I realized how blessed I am to be able to grow up during this era of Star Wars.

I'm glad you're enjoying it.

I preferred pre-Disney Star Wars though. Once Disney swooped in and tried to say what was and wasn't canon, that killed a lot of the mystique and feeling of being an epic universe with lots of stuff going on. I can't help but look at the new trilogy and think of it simply as another fan-fiction - because if Disney can retcon lore, who is to say someone else can't come along and say Disney's version is "Legends" as well? Sure, a lot of the Legends stuff was dumb, but you didn't have to pay attention to it. Yonzang WHO? Never heard of him. Still, it was out there if you wanted to engage with it.

Not the end of the world though - I'd say Marvel Studios has created an amazing setting that feels very much like pre-Disney Star Wars - that feeling of a fun, adventurous setting that is epic in scale/scope. Most recently, Black Panther was that sort of movie that Star Wars used to be - amazing special effects, action sequences, heroic figures and good vs evil struggle, costume design, etc.
