I’ve been there twice with two different Bipolar 1 individuals, and sadly it seems things had to get physical before they would understand they weren’t going to trick me with their words or bully me with their aggression. The first time I was not prepared and punched him and he immediately sobered up and stopped. The second was years later I physically stopped them from jumping out of the vehicle I was driving AT SPEED and they started punching me so they got quick whip against the dashboard as I slammed the breaks and then a night tight headlock in the floor until they realized my pain tolerance was higher than their remaining oxygen. Both individuals played super nice after and both individuals remembered from then on not to confuse nice with weak.
