Right, and that’s something we should work on to stop (I’m assuming you’re talking about social consequences here).

But you’d also have to be pretty blind to think false accusers receive ‘absolutely nothing’. I mean genuine rape/assault victims receive shit for just reporting it - “he was hard so it wasn’t rape”, “she flirted with him so she asked for it”, “he’s too nice he never would’ve did that!” etc etc. Take a look at the threads here on false accusations or on Facebook, Twitter or the news articles themselves. Everyone is calling for their heads. They receive death threats (Trumps accusers come to mind, not even proven false!).

The gossip and retaliation from their actual communities will be much worse, you just don’t hear about it because proper 100% proven and convicted false accusations are rare. For example, I know a man who said he was raped by another man at 2am while walking through a park but he later admitted to lying about it. He was shunned by the local community and AFAIK has moved away because of it. It definitely happens.
