The Woman King vs. the True Story of Dahomey's Female Warriors

That’s why I said outside of one character, everyone else who dies is nameless and not only that, but someone who opposes the main character, so it’s just canon fodder for gratuitous action.

Taabe’s death is the only meaningful death and even then, in a film with a similar runtime to the original, but they don’t have enough time let us know who the other characters are before they die? It’s how you build tension, especially in a horror aspect.

If you don’t care about these characters, then they don’t matter beyond a demonstration of an action sequence.

You just said Prey has the praises of both Predator and Predator 2 but now it doesn’t stack up to Predator? I’m just confused what you mean.

Predator is a deconstruction that has become a modern classic. It’s using the film to say something in the same sense of many blockbusters of that era.

Prey isn’t operating on that level, and that’s fine. But it’s a simple story, a native wants to prove herself and she does. It doesn’t have her question her brutality, she’s not left with the revelation of an end like Predator 2. And she’s not left exhausted with a thousand yard stare like Predator. She’s cheered because the film wants us to feel catharsis.

From a lore perspective, Feral was imptaient, didn’t know how his weapons worked and broke their code. They train before a hunt for half a century before an elder takes them for their first hunt. No elder would let Feral hunt with how little discipline he had. He never once even knew he was in a trap or a baited ambush.

I think we’ll just agree to disagree at this point. The amount of people acting like I don’t like the film “because a girl beat predator” is already making me regret this discussion. It was nice to talk about this though lol i’m serious, thanks.
