TL;DR: Police carried out searches of multiple houses in Creggan, a Republican area in Derry. They hadn't cordoned the road as a particular facebook journalist reports they said "they didn't believe they'd find anything dangerous" (paraphrased). Following the searches, a van (and one other vehicle) was hijacked and set alight, and multiple petrol bombs (molotovs) were thrown at police vans.

Police fired flares to attempt to disperse the crowd. A 29yo woman was shot in the head by a gunman who was likely aiming at the police vans. She was put into the back of the police van by civilians on an officer's order and rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately she passed away.
