Are you American? Do you think it might be because people are encouraged to be selfish by the people in power and the system they are in? Perhaps it's that they simply believe what The Big Orange Man believes (which is anything which will benefit his own personal success), and meet any attempt at logical discussion about ideas which would genuinely benefit the country with vicious and ignorant repudiation (ideas which often seem so obvious to most countries outside America)? That this mindset is facilitated by the decrease in the important of actual information, and the rise of identity politics over actual debate and policy ideas? Narrow-mindedness and ignorance is a disease which is spreading around the world, and it isn't being helped by the person currently in charge in America.
