a woman walking her pet(?)

I've taken my kid to a few drag queen story hours, and they are fun, the dudes are great performers (they are usually gay guys, not trans, so this is not misgendering.)

But, despite all our efforts to teach our kid inclusiveness, having no exposure to anything else, she started asking questions why it's so special that boys pretend to be women. She actually said it was "wierd," completely unprompted by anyone (she had only been to a very progressive preschool up until that point.)

And you know what? It is kind of wierd. It's like seeing men doing a caricature of women.

Don't get me wrong: the guys are really fun, they are sweet, great with the kids. But after going to a few, I'm not sure the message of men doing caricatures of ultra-femininty really teaches much.
