Women are fungible

I can appreciate what the article is saying, that feminism has made women more replaceable than in previous generations where you would marry and live together. However, the understanding of what "fungible" means is totally wrong.

If women are all fungible, it logically follows that you would be content to exchange a HB9 for an unattractive old woman. Obviously that's not true, because each woman has a different value. The most obvious criteria are attractiveness and personality, but there are others. When asked about his LTR, Patrice O'Neal stated that one of the reasons he wouldn't leave her is because he would have to "train" another woman (specifically to adjust her to his sexual fetishes and break her of bad habits). So not only do women have different value which we can all see as a community of men, but they even have different value specific to different men.

The core of TRP is to understand the reproductive strategies of men and women, which hinges on the fact that people don't all have the same value. Neither women or men are fungible, although they may improve of decline in value at any given time. That's the important part. Due to the male sexual strategy of finding multiple mates, the value of a female declines after intercourse is achieved and as she attempts to monopolize his time and attentions (she wants to lock down your resources and protection). The value of this woman has decreased for the man. Of course, her value might still be sufficiently high to keep the man's attention, or (like in O'Neal's case) her value might increase through other means. But, the fact that he has slept with her will always count against her when comparing her to other females (that he hasn't slept with).

I see this kind of bullshit on TRP all the time. Just because it sounds misogynistic doesn't mean it's true or even that it fits into RP. Women are not fungible goods. If you want to make the economics analogy, I would break it down into plates and LTRs. Plates are nondurable goods, you use them for a while and they wear out (lose value). LTRs are durable goods. Men are positional goods, our value to a woman is largely determined by how desired we are by other women. I'm sure there are plenty more analogies out there, but the simple truth is that the sexual marketplace is not the same as an economic system. It has parallels though.

Oh and please review rule 2 of George Orwell's 5 rules for effective writing.
