I had a crush over on Valentines day. We were at a point where we saw and texted each other frequently and I tried to send flirty messages. Neither of us called our get-together on Valentines a date, but we met up for dinner and went to my house after, which in my mind absolutely counts as a romantic date. Dinner was very pleasant, we laughed a lot and I try to amp up the flirtatious behaviour. We get to my house and for context I was wearing this very cute new dress, did my hair up, made sure my make-up was on point. I position myself on the sofa and assume a position that really hammers home the fact my dress has a serious side split going on and ask them if they want a drink. They sit next to me and say 'god you look so good in that dress' in a very serious voice. I reply with 'thank you, I'm glad you like it', smile at them, and give them a compliment as well. 'So', they add, 'does that mean you actually went on a date this Valentines?' My brain kinda short-circuits and I wonder if this is a round-about way of telling me they find my behaviour inappropriate. I tell them no and kinda clam up. We spend another hour making small talk and drinking soft drinks and so the date comes to an awkward end.

Later I find out they totally had a major crush me and genuinly thought they'd be wrong to interpret it as a romantic date because neither of us had mentioned it being anything of the sort :))
