I get you and I'm definitely not super knowledgeable either. I was mostly disinterested in this for the longest time and just kind of absorbing different headlines and comments about what a horrid person she was, you can't escape it. I heard the recordings of her saying how she "didn't hit him, just smacked him" and similar so to me it also seemed pretty clear

Then at one point it was so over the top that I just looked up what are even arguments for her case because it all seemed too ridiculous and then I got introduced to the lovely way he spoke about her, people who collaborate some of her claims, his own messages about how he's a monster on alcohol and smashing bottles...

In the end I just find it easier to sympathize with someone who was early-mid 20ies when it started, who to me is more likely to react immaturity, than to buy that a guy with so much experience and so established was under such mental manipulation he stayed with an abuser
