Women of Reddit, what has been your worst 'nice guy' experience?

It all started with a simple sentence, "You look bored." To which I replied, "I am."

I was working at my first job and he was there as a volunteer. These were the first and only words we had spoken.

The next day, he handed me a folded paper. I opened it up after lunch and was surprised to find one of the most beautifully drawn hearts with a ribbon banner across it. The banner had my name on it. One of my first thoughts was, how does know my name?

Later that week, I caught him trying to creep up on me when I had my back turned. I turned around to face him when I heard a sound and he goes "aww, you caught me."

Next I received a poem and another beautifully drawn picture. It was a rose with a stop watch. Something about time and waiting for his rose.

We had exchanged emails at some point and kept in touch even after we weren't working together anymore. He always said we should get together sometime, but never actually asked me out. And he repeatedly mentioned how we were just friends. I guess not wanting to be too forward.

Well, after a fee months, I got a boyfriend. Didn't feel comfortable telling this guy about it because I didn't know how he'd react. My hunch was right when one day he found out and then proceeded to attempt suicide later that night.

I only found out weeks later when I sent him an email to check on him because it'd been a while since I'd heard from him.

Its been years and I'm now married but I still expect him to show up on my doorstep sometimes. Just seems like that kinda guy.
