I didn’t say it was impossible I said it was tough like you.
These studies are incredibly hard to extrapolate things from. One study had kids that were told “you can eat the cookie on the counter now but if you wait two minutes you can have a second” and showed kids that waited were more likely to be successful.
Unless it was a brownie.
And then it changed again with skittles.
And then again with a Snickers.
And we were supposed to extrapolate something about reward vs patience but really maybe we couldn’t have abstracted anything except what immediately happened in that room.
The point is every time we take the results and apply it to something else we’re taking a huge risk and not only often but a large majority of the time these studies can’t be replicated.
