Women should decide whether to legalize abortion, Mexican president says

Not the same guy but I'm someone else with the "no abortion except for rape or danger to mother" view

It strikes me as wildly hypocritical to insist that abortions from consensual pregnancies are morally impermissible, but it somehow becomes okay, just because the pregnant person didn't choose the obligation. Is the fetus not still a life, after all? The fetus doesn't know if it came from rape, or a loving tryst- why is it okay for us to render that life forfeit?

I see this as consistent because of that violinist argument. I'm convinced by that that nobody should be forced to use their body as support for another. The exception, which is what I think the guy you replied to was saying as well, is I see consenting to sex as consenting to all of the risks that accompany sex, including pregnancy, and that once you've made that decision, you're responsible for the life that that may create.
