Women who immigrated relatively young, how hard was it adjusting to a different culture/place?

Rough. Even though I dived right into total immersion and I actually pick languages very fast.

Moving to the wrong country can set you back ten to twenty years, especially if its one that considers its self sooo advanced, they won't even recognize your high-school diploma, much less your bachelor. And have fun trying to find a white collar job in such a country as a first generation immigrant. The amount of highly educated immigrants working as cleaners, taxi-drivers and factory workers was enormous. Most end up starting their own companies because none of the locals will hire them.

Moral of the story: Give it 2 years, if you see a systemic problem, get out. And no, marrying that local you are so in love with, will not help.
