Ok, I’m going to answer this as someone who post pics on Reddit.

I want to start off by saying on some instances, you are right. Some people sell pics of themselves have low self esteem or they are just trying to make ends meet. In prostitution, I would say this is the majority because it is not a well regulated job and doesn’t have any check and balances to keep it safe or clean business. If it was well regulated, then that would be another story.

Now, onto why I disagree with you. I’ll start with myself as an example.

I’m not the super boastful, sassy and cocky persona I present myself as but I’m also in turn not wallowing in self-pity or insecurity. I’m just a normal person. I post pics because it makes me feel good and it makes me feel super sexy. It also turns me on when guys get turned on by me.

I also don’t sell anything( though I might for some extra money) so I can’t really speak on that part, but if I did it wouldn’t come from a place of desperation. I’m not rich but I’m not poor, I’m middle class. I still live with my parents for now, but I’m eventually going to go back to school to get a college degree, so I can move out and have my own place. I also have an okay job, not enough to live off of but I don’t have to at the moment. So you can see, I’m not exactly struggling.

And, on the point of cam girls, I do think the majority do it because they enjoy doing it. I think that’s because they can control what type of content they put out, how much to sell it as, when they want to do it etc. It’s an entirely independent thing that you don’t really have to rely on someone else(in terms of producing content) to do it. You can choose how racy or how vanilla you want to be. There’s a market for everything and they choose which one to partake in on.

TL;DR: While I do think some women that sell themselves can be really insecure or they have no other choice, I also think the majority of women that sell or post things on the internet do it because they enjoy it.
