My mum beats my dad and whenever he left would threaten to take all his money and make him never see us kids again. All the while continuing to pop out more kids.

My dad will be in his 60s before the youngest kid finally moves out of home. Far too old to start from nothing, no house, no savings etc.

​

I'd like to hope that when that day finally comes I'd be set up financially enough to be able to take my dad in and support him.

​

But I doubt he will leave when the time comes, my siblings are all huge enablers of my mum and would cut my dad out of their lives without hesitation if my mum told them too (which if she's the type to threaten to withhold minor children from him as spite, she'd 100% threaten to turn my adult siblings against him)

As soon as a woman utters the phrase "If you leave you won't see the kids anymore" or anything similar to that, it should 100% be used against her in court and the primary caregiver should be the dad who because clearly the mother has poor impulse control, poor emotional intelligence and is spiteful. Hardly qualities you'd want in a primary caregiver.

Wild that family court systems are still so gender-biased unless the dude has a fat wallet, which many male abuse victims don't because financial abuse is a thing.
