Women's groups challenge new Texas abortion restrictions. Under a law that takes effect December 19, embryonic and fetal tissue resulting from abortions must be buried or cremated, regardless of the woman's religious beliefs or personal wishes.

Philosophical consistency doesn't justify treating women who lose pregnancies as criminals until "proven" different.

Perhaps I could see if investigations were carried out in the exact same manner as an abrupt and unexpected death of a person already born - medical examiner determines cause of death and we go from there. Procedure is followed. But instead you have women jailed and sentenced for late term miscarriages despite no determination on how a fetus died. People have problems with the implementation of these laws because they are clearly not designed to "protect" any child as they claim and are instead meant to punish women for not carrying a child to term. Patel allegedly didn't want her baby, but they couldn't find any drug she in her system to intentionally abort or harm the fetus. Allowing laws and precedence like the above to continue will cause women like me who want their child and would be devestated at the child's loss to be vilified just so they can catch the few women who seek abortions that are becoming illegal in increasingly early dates.
