[WON] AEW’s first major out of the ring controversy stemmed from the 7/28 Chris Jericho vs. Nick Gage main event, Gage using a pizza cutter to slice Jericho’s arm and forehead and leave him covered in blood. Domino’s is a major sponsor of TNT and WarnerMedia programming so this is a serious issue.

As I had previously said before the event aired, I was very surprised that they were going to do this match on TV and that TNT would seemingly allow it. You knew without a doubt that there would be blood, probably a lot of it, and probably some light tubes, at the very least. The pizza cutter thing is particularly egregious as AEW must be aware of who are the sponsors airing during their programming.

I agree with Dave that it was a needless risk, and I'd also said in a previous post that even as a huge wrestling fan and AEW fan, I don't seek out death matches to watch routinely and it wasn't really the kind of thing I was stoked to be seeing on Dynamite. I was interested to the degree that it's reasonably foreign to me - the only one I've ever seen start to finish was Pentagon Jr and Vampiro in Lucha Underground, but I do find them a bit uncomfortable to watch, and I'm a very liberal and free reign kind of guy, so I can't imagine what more conservative viewers must have thought.
