I wonder if my past crushes remember the special moments I've had with them.

Not sure if this quite counts but since everyone is sharing memories I might as well.

I know I'm always going to remember this moment. In high school I remember I sat right next to this girl my entire junior year and never said a word to her. Except for one day during a field trip to a park where our two groups of friends ran into each other in the woods and we all had just yelled and ran around having fun like little kids or something.

But then the next day at school back to total silence, she was really cute and I was shy and intimated by that. So it went on like that for the rest of the year.

Then the next year I got another seat right behind her again in a different class (2 actually), it was a small school. I had my head down and remember all of a sudden smelling a "special herb" and jumping straight up in my seat and seeing her look around nervously trying to close her purse really quick.

So I looked right at her and said "hey do you smell that" and we both just busted out laughing. We started talking a ton right from that point. We found out we both were really into music and she asked me to listen to a song and vice versa and we ended up with one headphone in each ear from each others phone (so we were listening to both at the same time, not the best way to experience a new song) right in the middle of class while just like looking right at each other in the eyes. I still remember the songs too.

Soon after a few weeks of talking and hanging out a bit I told her that I was really into her. Unfortunately the feeling was not mutual. I was a bit sad but we kept talking and hanging out just like before and I convinced myself I didn't like her too much anyway. So because of that I tried as hard as I could to not be romantically interested in her, which I did for the most part. She was just my friend.

Eventually near the end of the year she got kicked out of her house and had to move out of state to go live with her dad. She had some mental health issues that she was struggling with and I was really worried and wanted to know how she was doing so I scrounged up enough money to buy a bus ticket and went to visit her over a break.

On one of the last nights I was there and it started raining. She went on to tell me how much she liked the rain because it supposedly reminded her of when she was a kid. Then it started really pouring and she just took off through the door and I chased after her thinking what the hell. It was freezing outside and past midnight.

She started to try and splash me with water from puddles on the side of the road with her feet. We were both soaking wet and she runs out into the middle of the road and just lays there. I catch up and sit down beside her, both of us laughing trying to catch our breath. Eventually I ask her if being out here really reminded her of when she was a little girl. She just laughed and said "No, I just like it". And we both laid there freezing our asses off in the middle of the road. I could never remember seeing her that happy any other time.
