World population living in extreme poverty, 1820-2015

No it is definitely correct. The quality of life of people has been going backwards for a very long time. For example, in my country, the idea of being able to afford a house with a decent backyard, 30 minutes from work, was entirely possible. 30 years later, much of the community feeling has been replaced due to busy roads (this is where kids used to play), and you can no longer afford a house at all. In fact, most people now can't afford to buy anything, even a shitty apartment an hour from work.

Younger people also have a much higher education and spent many more years studying, yet they have less wealth and job opportunities then people 30 years ago in the same position.

Life expectancy in the western world is expected to be in decline for the first time ever.

GDP keeps growing in my country, but GDP per capita is decreasing. Basically, governments are growing the economy by importing more people, but each person gets less.

Anyone who argues things are getting better is just making things up. This is the kind of argument I expect from east coast and west coast privileged kids though. Brainwashed at university, complacent due to family wealth, don't realise the propaganda they are given while talking about "fox news" in the same sentence.
