I don't think it has anything to do with financing like the top commenter has mentioned.

I think it's actually to take advantage of the exploding de-alc trend. An entire generation is coming up not interested in alcohol, and cannabis beverages positioned as a "healthy", non-alc alternative is driving it. It's actually a wonderful medium between consuming alcohol and being stone sober. There are many low dose (2-3mg) drinks that are meant to be sessionable so you can have more than one, designed to look like alcoholic drinks so you're not a "social outcast", and most importantly, they aren't poison that gives you hangovers.
