Worried about my plan. Worried about making myself sick.

SO here is my problem. I would like to be in the lower portion of my acceptable BMI and Body fat %, however when using the Keto calculator and a few other resources, I'm maxed out about 10 pounds over what my goal is and that's after 1 year of progress. This is worrisome, I know that I will look good at that weight, but its all about goals here.

The Ketocalculator bases it's value for lowest minimum weight on the value you enter as your current bodyfat%. Either you're underestimating your current bf%, or you've got enough muscle that the BMI chart of average weights for your height is inaccurate for you because you will weigh more with a smaller mass (muscle being more dense than fat.)

If you tell it your current bf% at 170 lbs and 5'6" is 25%, it will spit out this value: "With 25% body fat you have 58kg (127lbs) of lean body mass, and 19kg (42lbs) of body fat. This includes about 7.1kg (16lbs) of essential body fat that you must not lose." meaning that it will never advise you to weigh less than 127 lbs lean body mass + 16 lbs essential fat = 143 lbs total.

If you tell it your current bf% at 170 lbs and 5'6" is 40%, it will spit out this value: "With 40% body fat you have 46kg (102lbs) of lean body mass, and 31kg (68lbs) of body fat. This includes about 5.7kg (13lbs) of essential body fat that you must not lose." meaning that it will never advise you to weigh less than 102 lbs lean body mass + 13 lbs essential fat = 115 lbs total, which would put you at the very bottom end of recommended average BMI for your height.

ALL THAT SAID, BMI really is a shitty metric for picking goal weight, as it doesn't have any way of accounting for how muscular a person may or may not be. It's just a guideline, an average.

Also, don't be too put off by the keto calculator estimating that it will take you a year or more to reach your goal. It's probably correct. Losing weight at these lower weights takes time because we can't create as large a caloric deficit as people with more fat to lose/sustain. Focus on making the maintaining of the diet your goal. I feel way more "proud" of my 400+ day MyFitnessPal tracking record than I feel of the number on the scale from day to day.
