I worry that the people around me are starting to think I'm a self hating black person.

I don't know that I'm at the level of pride about it that my peers are at.

I'll tell you what I tell the stormshits who try to recruit me. What have other white people done for me lately? If I were in a jam in the street, would they step in? Hell no, they would start telling me how I should take personal responsibility for my situation and use my individual freedom to get out of it. So why would I be all WHITE PRIDE WORLDWIDE FUTURE FOR WHITE CHILDREN when I know for a fact that the average person wouldn't lift a finger to come to my defense in any situation?

The individual is a better outcome predictor than their group membership categorically. People who judge individuals by their group membership are fools. That doesn't mean you go onto Paterson at 3am drunk and start asking random street kids to buy an ounce, you're going to get robbed and beaten at least. But all other things being equal you are the person who needs to take pride in himself, have high expectations for others and hold yourself to high standards.

As for pride in your heritage, study history, for God's sake. Look for role models, look for people you respect and look at their values. It's not all about individuals, look for role models, understanding that all of us are imperfect and we all make mistakes, but that's not an excuse for bad behavior.

It's fine to be black, and if you identify with black culture, there are some great role models for you. But having pride in something you were born with has a lot of obvious limitations.
