Worst places on reddit and your reaction to them?

Reddit in general and /r/christianity. The discussion is quickly dominated by the most popular opinion against any alternative argument.

It rewards witty retorts and not serious arguments.

The ability to have discussion at all is nearly impossible as fluff content which is easy to digest naturally rises to the top.

In the case of /r/Christianity in particular the most contentious of debates happen over and over again without ceasing because those discussions reward witty retorts and the general hive mind.

Very rarely is there much focus upon Christian practice but instead theological debates about social matters.

The tendency towards turning your opponent into a punching bag with which to jab him or her with accusations is taken up by theological conservatives or liberals.

Rarely if ever is someone charitable in disagreement, delighting in being able to misunderstand or read their opponent's views in the worst light possible. This happens regardless of viewpoint.

I've been told because of my belief in a literal 7 day creation I'm mentally unstable and if holding the office of President would start launching nukes.

I've been called a bigot because I view homosexuality to be a sin, even after clarifying I have no issue with gay marriage being recognized.

I think some users love to huff the fumes of controversy because they find it funny. I remember how a lot of people that never went to /r/reformed became suddenly concerned with it's transparency and level of discourse. It all reeks of insincerity.

I think this place in particular becomes a parallel /r/atheism where people can come and talk about how enlightened they are for not being theological conservatives.

I remember debating coming back and reading brokehugs and seeing the stupid Ronald Reagan creed thing which promptly reminded me of why I left in the first place. This subreddit exists primarily for the mockery of me and other theological conservatives.

What makes it worse than /r/atheism or /r/imgoingtohellforthis or even /r/spacedicks is that /r/Christianity and /r/brokehugs have a sickeningly sweet coat of insincerity and concern trolling. Say what you will about /r/spacedicks but they don't act like they're better than other people.
