Was worth the 10 bucks.

The controls are actually really good for a fixed camera game, it means you're always moving forward relative to the character when the camera switches, with regular controls you get that Devil May Cry problem of when the camera switches you can end up spinning around like an idiot.

You just need to get used to up being forward relative to the character and not the camera and it becomes pretty easy to use. The other issue is the controller, there are only two things I've ever found comfortable for playing with it, the 360 D-Pad as it's one big circle and the Gamecube/Wii analogue stick due to the notches around the stick. Regular analogue sticks with rounded edges are complete trash for it, separated D-Pads are fine but are awkward to hit diagonals comfortably, the 360 (and possibly XB1 but I haven't tried that yet) being one whole thing that slides slightly are much easier to hit diagonals with.

They added regular controls to the HD versions and you get that DMC spinning problem on camera switches, it also trivialises most of the game as the enemies aren't designed to deal with a character that can suddenly switch direction so quickly. You can dodge pretty much everything with tank controls but it requires much more familiarity with the game. It doesn't really feel like Survival Horror when you can dance around the zombies the way the 3D controls allow you to do.
