Would you believe me if I said this was Scotland? Luskentyre Beach, Isle of Harris [OC] [1678x944]

We were told that earlier in the summer they blocked access for those without reservations at the bridge due to overcrowding.

I ran a hotel on the road to Skye just under an hour away from the bridge and there was nothing between us and there. The Tourist Board have it pretty well under control, they have a database of all the available beds and put out a warning not to go when they fill up.

This was a few years ago, it sounds like they stop people now or do checks at the bridge which in turn sounds like a nightmare for the locals.

It gets MENTAL busy. In the height of the summer the road can be nose to tail from about 6am until 10pm and even then it just slows down.

Busy place, go but don't plan to stay without booking. If you have to sleep in a car it'll be shit and you'll be ravaged by midges if you set foot outside. They aren't a joke, I have seen many holidays ruined by the wee fuckers.

We used to routinely send people as far back as Inverness for accommodation only to find Inverness was full as well. I have known people who have had to drive to Edinburgh or Glasgow to find beds. Scotland has a booming tourist industry and it's also the friendliest place on earth.
