My 5 year relationship ended due to my ex taking the anti-gg side. When gamergate first came about I was pissed off that my oldest hobby was full of corruption and shady dealings that I was very vocal in my outrage as i felt deceived that such unethical behavior was allowed to run rampant in the industry.

I was already aware of the direction that the feminist movement was going, it seems you have the old style equal rights feminists and a new wave of angry man-hating feminists to scream rape, patriarchy and misogyny at every instance and take great strides to do as much damage to the rights of men and other women who don't hold the same views. I watched video's and read many articles about the ways the movement was corrupting other mediums such as comic books and then gamergate started and i was witnessing the same shit happen to one of my favorite pastimes.

My ex was a feminist and we had talks over the years about it but i was never critical of her as i thought she was one of the 'old style' feminists that actually believed in both men and women having equality which was the same view as me even if I did not like to be labeled as a feminist. But as GamerGate went on and all the news turned to misogyny and white male gamers harassing females out of the video game scene the relationship took a turn for the worse. I started voicing my displeasure at what these people were going and how they was lying and clouding behind the scenes for their own personal gain but no matter what I said and how much proof I could show she would not believe me, she started following all the prominent anti-gamer twitter accounts and many other man-hating feminists I dread to think what her twitter feed looks like. She starts reading anti-gg sites (something about a mammoth) and bookmarking anti-gg posts left right and center but never once tried to talk to me about it all and why I had the beliefs I do and still have to this day. So not long after that the relationship was at an end, with no explanation to me as to why she ended it and no attempt to even try and save what we had. We were meant to be getting married this year but I guess her belief that gamers are just a bunch or misogynists was worth destroying all that for.
