Yeah I figured you were CA. Had a cousin who attempted 3 times to move to that state <spit>. He now works for as a contractor "fixing" victorias secret models among several other things. He saw a BMW back here for 25k and was like F it I'm buying it and driving back. I HATE the state I'm in and and I honestly don't know why people live in CA. No offense to CA residents. I have snow you don't. I pay 10x less than you do for the same thing. It rains and everyone on PCH acts like an idiot.

I do lego (like model trains), robotics, 3d printing, rc cars, cars (subaru), hydroponics and several others. my wife and I have 11 k in the bank. Not a lot to you but it's 4-5 months for 2 people back here. My house cost 47k and its paid off. Basement, attic, foyer, living room, 2 car garage, kitchen, 2 full bathrooms and 4 bedrooms + acreage....

I'm from Ny, NY (originally) so yeah I feel your pain - 1500 a month for rent of a literal hole in the ground in brooklyn that is a good deal... in the 90s..

I just like California, chill weather and legal cannabis. I couldn't move if I wanted to though. I have 24 cents in my bank account and I'm unemployed. Damm I didn't know houses were that inexpensive. Even modest houses are 180k(foreclosure that needs work) to 500k. Shit the town I grew up in the houses are all above 400k.
