Would the FFXIV community find a Duty Assistant app useful?

As a new player, I’m sad to see that people don’t seem to want this, but I can totally understand. I have over 600hrs and have played for about 3 months now, and honestly coming from WoW especially, DF was very intimidating. I used to do mythic content regularly and have played mmo’s for over 15yrs; I can generally get the hang of basic duty mechanics pretty easily. The lower levels were honestly the better DF experiences I had, everyone was a lot more understanding.

But as soon as I cracked SB content, I would do my usually “o/ first time here” in chat, and I was actually told multiple times throughout 60-80 that I should ALWAYS be looking up DF content before queuing (even basic levelling dungeons...I’m a DRG main). This really threw me off and so I was constantly stressing myself out trying to look up fights before every dungeon, trial, raid I queued up for up until 5.3. This really, really sucked because there are literally no up-to-date written guides that I could just throw on my second monitor and use for reference during the Duty. I found ONE site that barely had any fights. No, I would have to toss up a YouTube video multiple times even throughout the duty and that was SO difficult to focus on how to execute mechanics via the video, and actually trying not to die. This also really sucked because I felt like I would be a horrible hinderance if I didn’t look up the fights to the ShB trials and I ended up spoiling myself multiple times /:. I have since given up on doing most trials and raid because I’ll just die 192827 times and it’s no fun being raised, AGAIN.

My issues are not with very basic mechanics, but rather, sometimes in ShB, I’ve noticed in a lot of the trials and especially the Nier raids, you can completely know to stack up on the marker during the 3 airship boss, but if you’re going in blind, you’ll probably not know that you have to position yourself so you don’t nuke an entire alliance lol. This is what I mean, by still following mechanics but sometimes the “what you have to do after” is not translated well to first timers. Idk I’m still new to xiv so maybe it’s intended to be that way, but it can be pretty frustrating and confusing.

In the end, Reddit and everyone is very understanding and kind, saying to just go in blind everything will be fine, but then I go into DF and I get flamed for not looking up fights. So I get it, the Vet who can run sastasha while running backwards with their eyes blindfolded and using their toes to navigate through the Duty, I get that person won’t find any use. But as a new player, I really wish I had something short and precise that I could quickly throw up and reference as I go. I really just hate feeling like a burden to my teammates, you know?

Sorry for the long rant, but if you did go through with it, I’m sure a lot of new players would find it very useful! :)
