I would happily wait an extra day for package delivery if it meant workers were treated humanely.

I'm with FedEx, and I'm aware a lot of this is regional. I'm sure the best Amazon warehouse is better than the worst FedEx warehouse. That said,

We pay more than Amazon, and a lot of our employees come from Amazon. The stories I hear come from Amazon employees are unheard of here. Workers are never denied bathroom breaks (that's against the rules, and we even tell employees to "let us know" and not "ask permission" for bathroom breaks) or judged on a clock for how long that break takes. At Amazon, you have to meet a proficiency goal. You have a set number of seconds to achieve tasks, and, sure, you're allowed bathroom breaks... but that's going to count against you. We don't do that.

The reason we are stealing employees from Amazon is because working at FedEx is better in practically every way. You're treated like a human and not a robot.

Apologies for the lengthy reply, but I disagree that Amazon warehouse work measures up to the standards of FedEx, UPS, or the USPS. They are far and away considered bottom-tier.
