Would higher impedance affect competitive gaming?

You're welcome. Sorry that I can't suggest a really good set for you, my insight was within the electronics impedance.

If you have the time I would really suggest you skip a gaming headset altogether (they're not focusing on sound quality) and instead research getting a really good headphone and separate microphone + a portable ampdac with microphone line (some even have a built in mic) that will work connected to a computer w usb.. Sorta googling "audiophile gaming" and take it from there.. it will give you a competitive edge, as well as a nice pair of headphones for music.

And if you're not squeamish I'd consider the second hand market to get twice as good for half the price, but no warranty..
