Would it be moral to ddos porn sights

Fair point, certainly we can only expect attacks against churches to become ever more common online

I mean, yeah, but i think with this crowd, ill clear up why id agree:

Churches are structurally like small/medium sized businesses, which are a ripe target for cyber attacks because they command decent assets, have some IT infrastructure, but usually dont have the best security due to it being a cost center.

Churches in particular usually have very low quality volunteer IT staff, so it makes them a pretty easy target for low hanging criminal activity.

E.g. there was a church in cleveland a few years ago that got scammed out of $1.5 million through phishing scams.

We need like a catholic MSSP that provides low cost/volunteer soc support for parishes, and maybe like low cost security awareness training.

I know the chinese have hit the vatican before, but thats out of scope for where my mind is at.

As much as I would love to see every abortion clinic website and every porn site crash, the means would almost certainly always be immoral even though the goal may be just

Even just knocking a site out for a few days isnt that impactful. To really hurt orgs like that, youd need to do some massively illegal and immoral shit to get them sued and fined for compliance issues. Doing something like dumping HIPAA protected medical records from some abortion clinic could get them in much more trouble than just vandalizing their website or something. Or maybe hitting them with ransomware that you just never unlock so that they have to replace their whole infrastructure. Obviously, that sort of thing is much less permissible...

Cyberattacks should really be thought of under the framework of just war theory, because they ultimately are pretty vicious if theyre to have decent impact.

By the way, I'm not a programmer

Me neither lol.
