Would you recommend the board game to a family?

When I have friends or family over, I try to figure out if they are 1-hour, 2-hour, or 3-hour game people.

Looking at the 3 games you mentioned, he might be more of a 1-hour game person.

Here are some of my favorite 1-hour games, grouped by maximum # of players:

4 players max:

  • Quest for El Dorado - deck building with movement on modular board
  • Capital Lux 2: Generations - "area majority" with cards
  • Istanbul: the Dice Game - dice rolling, set collection

6 players max:

  • Santo Domingo - hand management, simultaneous play
  • Alhambra - tile placement, area majority, hand management
  • Alhambra: the Card Game - "area majority" with cards

8 players max:

  • Camel Up! - bidding, dice rolling, movement
  • (I haven't played Steampunk Rally Fusion yet, but it would fall in this category - near-simultaneous dice rolling & placement, movement on variable boards)
