Why would a united ireland make sense for any other reason than ideologically? [serious]

Read the studies i have linked to this is a direct consequence of Partition, having a border cut through natural hinterland will have a tendency to disrupt the flow of investment in infrastructure; this has had the effect of creating a Dublin centric economy with the Border removed it would reset the balance. Reintegrating Donegal, Derry, Tyrone Sligo and Galway with a massive investment in infrastructure would change this islands Economy immeasurably.

There is an inherent geographic disadvantage Northern Ireland faces by being isolated from Europe with Dublin and London in between. I see no reason Dublin won't have a similar effect to SE England on being the primary magnet for investment at the expnse of other regions. Arguably our current status as a seperate 'country' allows us greater foriegn investment opportunity , than merely being just another region of the RoI.

Except it doesn't, any real outside investment is going to Dublin, investment in Northern Ireland is dismal and further hampered further by the various Tax free crown dependencies that the UK has to offer.

Also considering we had the 30 years of the RA trying to ruin the Northern Irish economy, we are only slighty worse off than the Border Midlands & West area of the RoI.

NI has not been a Net contributor to the UK since the 1930's it's economy was in trouble long before the troubles started.

Although I cant find the stats I would also imagine that North Down and SE Belfast fair quite well in the GDP per capita ratings. The regions best integrated with the UK.

So there are affluent areas, what does that prove? In what way are these regions best intregrated?
