Why would you worship a God who considers eternal torture a reasonable punishment?

It might be a bit controversial but I’m going to share my honest thoughts on this.

Believing in eternal damnation is immature. The human mind can’t grasp just how long eternity is. Not even the most heinous atrocities committed by man are worthy of eternal punishment. A thousand years? Maybe. But not eternity. Never. And yet there’s people who believe that even good people will be tortured eternally simply for not believing in their god. That doesn’t sound at all like an all-knowing and all-merciful god. And if that was the case, then I can say with full confidence that there are humans who are wiser and more compassionate than God is.

I’ve delved a few times into exploring different religions and there beliefs, and I could never find comfort in any religion that believes in eternal damnation in any circumstances. I honestly can’t fathom how anyone could find comfort in the unending suffering of others.

So no, I wouldn’t worship a God who considers eternal torture a reasonable punishment. The concept of eternal punishment is a human invention designed to be used as a control mechanism, nothing more.
