Wounded Vet-needs advice on TRT

First, thanks for your service. It gets said too much, and I get tired of hearing it too, but it sounds like you sacrificed a lot. I'm a disabled vet also, but I don't even consider it the same as guys like you.

The VA isn't gonna make it easy for you. Here's what I did (just 3 months ago). I knew the VA was gonna make it difficult so I found a urologist in town that listed TRT on their website, made an appointment (paid roughly $200 out of pocket for the blood test and appt), and started TRT once the results came back confirming my suspicions. Then I went to the VA, told my PCP that I started and asked if the VA would continue the treatment, so I didn't have to continue to pay the outside doctor.

Since I was already on TRT, had test results, etc, it was as simple as that. I haven't officially switched because I have 3 months before I'd have to go see the other guy, but my doctor's got the script ready whenever I decide to. (I want to ask both doctors about HCG and HGH before switching to the VA).

There is too much red tape when you deal with the VA. They'll throw 15 pills at you in one day, but when it comes to effective medicine, you have to pull teeth and wait forever to meet their requirements. Take the decision out of their hands, and once you're on, they can't really pull you off unless they have a good reason.

I'm not sure if you watch Joe Rogan's podcast at all, but you should check out the few episodes with Dr Mark Gordan and the Warrior Angels Foundation guys. It's how I found out about TRT, and it may have literally saved my life. I'm always afraid to jinx it, but I feel better now than I have in a decade. I spent years in a tornado, completely fucked up by all the meds they cycled me onto and off of, and was just about done with it all. TRT made me feel like me again.

Hope this helps, and I hope you feel better soon.
