[WP] An alien invasion happens during an alien invasion.

It took our primitive sensors quite some time before we realised...What seemed as random clusters of asteroid debris near Pluto turned out to be the very engine of our destruction. What we first presumed was one, became 10...then a hundred. Before we knew, thousands of ships approached the planet. In only a few hours, they arrived. One of their ship descented into orbit.

"Inhabitants of self-designated planet Earth, you are deemed a threat to intelligent life in this solar system and beyond. By decree, your civilization will be removed from existence."

These words echoed through our minds, yet they were never spoken. As if they were directly projected within our heads, in our own native language.

When they finally entered orbit, Earth's defences were a laughing stock; major military installations around the globe, be it on land, underground or at sea, were decimated within seconds. Yet the few blows we dealt them, they felt. Our weapons might be primitive but they are effective. Several nuclear missiles from China, the US and Russia launched in the best military campaign mankind has ever lead. While powerful, some of their ships came crashing down into our very soil.

We are a resourceful kind, pulling whatever together whatever we could. We started scavenging their technology for anything useful: defences, weapons, power, sensors, whatever we could get our hands on. After a 2-week campaign, we reversed engineered one of their energy cells and plasma cannon. We were ready for the next round!

But it never came. Their ground forces hastily returned to their drop-ships, the orbital bombardment suddenly stopped and from what we could tell their ships were being pulled away from low-orbit. Reports stated that more ships were approaching Earth but we presumed they were reinforcements. Are they our saviours? Have they come to help us?

A fist hits a beautifully marble-like stone adorned table.

"How DARE you mock this council's decision?! We had to pull YOUR TROOPS from an pre-FTL civilization!" - an unknown voice beaconed, clearly seething with rage. "Councillor Sha'or, I thought it was in the councils intere..." "This was NOT in the council's interest! We know full-well what your stance is on the human-kin! You fear that they might turn out like your kind once did!" "But...this council deemed..." "We all agreed that they are dangerous, reckless and could pose a threat to the universe. Yet it is far too early for us to judge them, let alone act against them!"" "Councilor, may I remind you that this very council..." "I know FULL WELL what this council agenda is! An emergency plan to remove the humans from existence. But this was not to be executed until our unanimous agreement and as such, was postponed until further notice!"

General Var'on, commander of the Galactic Fleet, makes his way into the Council's room. It is unlikely, even for someone of his high stature, to disrupt a council meeting. His message is of the utmost urgency.

"My apologies council for disturbing your meeting but I bring urgent news from Earth. It seems that the humans have started to use Gorn technology for their personal benefits. Our reports state that they have destroyed several ships in high-orbit, with a reversed engineered long-range plasma cannon. Our ships have retreated beyond the cannon's range."

Councillor Sha'or returns to his seat and sighs deeply.

"Anything to add, High-Commander Varon?" - Sha'or says with a snive undertone. "I...No sir." "You wanted to be the instrument of their destruction. Now, you might have become the instrument of ours."

Councillor Sha'or stands up and paces to the front of the council's table.

"Fellow Councillors...Our Galactic Alliance faces a new threat... How do we respond to the human-kin?"
