[WP] you applied for the first Mars mission but didnt get in. one day one of the astronauts in that mission pulls out "for family reasons" and you get in. while going to thank him he pulls you close and whispers "they threatened my family. I saw something I wasn't suppose to. don't trust them"

Jerry McDonalds leaned in close to my ear, he was visibly shaken up about something. His breath was cold, his voice had a strong hint of genuine terror in it. “I saw something I wasn’t suppose to...” He almost weeped. “Don’t trust them.” Jerry then leaned back, and proceeded on as if that moment never happened. I looked at the man I admired genuinely puzzled. “W-what?” I managed to let out. But Jerry kept walking. Never in my 16 years of knowing him, have I ever seen him that afraid... In fact, never in my whole life have I ever seen a man with that level of horror in his face. It struck a chord with me. Even as he walked away ever so calmly, the imagine of his ghastly terrified face moments ago was still burning bright in my head. What did he see? Could he just be trying to throw me off my game? No, he would never. Jerry McDonalds was the greatest man I ever knew— he would face a dozen wars for his country, jump belly first on a grenade to save a comrade, go into space. He was a fearless man.. until today. I decided to go on with the mission, a mistake that mankind and I would later gravely regret.
