Well over 2 million of us pressed it, and all of us took that stupid flair. I was one of the first, I have purple. Some had blue, green, yellow, orange, you name it. This mysterious substarted on April 1st, but it lasted well after that date, which ruined any chance of it just being an innocent April Fool's joke.
Now, every time it got to around 5 seconds, and it was getting shorter every day. It is clear that this day, May 17th, the Button would end, and we would find out what happens when it's finally finished, when reddit has gone one full minute without anybody clicking it. Of course, with all the journalists from Buzzfeed etc. always being on reddit looking for a story, every newspaper is now jumping on board, and all of the news channels are showing live coverage of the button going down.

The conspiracy nuts joined in as soon as they could. Some were funny, they said that reddit would turn into a website made specifically for the sharing of pornography. Some were scary, they said that reddit was to be purchased by Facebook. And some were absolute implausable BS, as some people fantasized about it being the countdown to a 1984-esc world, with everything being watched and everything being run by an NWO.

But as the clock ticked closer, I was worried. I was fearing the unknown. It would probably be something that is very creative, so much so that nobody would have expected it or made theories about it.

Fuck it. Just let it happen. Let's see how the world will change. Let's see how reddit changes. Let's see how the media, the newspapers react to what will surely be one of the most incredible and defining moments of the internet's history. Into decimals now, all I can do is watch is eventually go down to zero. It definitely doesn't feel like a second.

The screen fades out, and it links to a video. This video has to connect to every computer and TV screen across the world, so it takes time. But it eventually comes on. Could it be new orders from a new government? Could it be aliens finally revealing themselves? Maybe just an announcement from reddit?
