[WP] The human species has gone extinct thousands of years ago. Extraterrestrial explorers find a sample of human DNA and decide to resurrect the species once again. You are the first new human growing up in a completely alien society.

I wrote this in honor of Lost. I love that damn show. I also had no plan whatsoever and thats why a lot of it makes no sense (hence in honor of Lost, lol), but its for fun, and for me =)

For as long as I can remember, I have been different. Wading through a sea of dolphins as a goldfish became normal for me. How do I know what a dolphin or a goldfish is, you ask? It's a tale I am happy to share.

Growing up as a minority on Vega is a hard thing to survive. Growing up as the last of your kind is.....harder. I remember the first time leaving the Alternarium, where I grew up with the other "aliens", I was scared to death. We heard the stories, people up and disappearing if they asked any questions about questioning their superior, or what they have been ordered to do. I told myself when I walked out the door that that would never be me. I would follow the rules. I may not have known much about who I was or where I was, but I wanted to live. I didn't know why, and sometimes, considered myself a coward.

It all changed on my Exit Day. As I opened the Alternarium's radiant white doors, I was met with a cruel reality. The Vega I had heard of did not exist at all. There was no city with busy streets, markets, or houses....only an empty field with a clean, rarely-traveled road leading from the doors to the horizon. I asked myself how everything Jinn had told me could be a lie. Why would the one person who fed us and taught us, lie to us about the outside world?

The others whose exit day it also was, refused to leave in fright. I told myself again, I'm going to follow the rules. I started walking. I walked and I walked. Eventually, in the distance, I saw another man walking towards me, mirroring my every move. My heartbeat rose with each mirrored step. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Still moving, I was slowly slipping out of consciousness. Six. Seven steps. Eight. I looked around me and no longer was I on a dirt road in an open field. There was no other person walking towards me. A bright light lit up my peripheral and I was suddenly no longer myself. I was small. I had no idea who or where I was. I glanced up at a creature who resembled my former self. She was beautiful and I knew she was going to take care of me now.
