[WP] Mars is actually the planet that was flooded by God in the bible. Noah got on a space ship and came to Earth.

Noah watched the swarming lights below him, red and green dots that were brought together by the narrow. He ached to be down there, to quell the rioting, the banner waving, the accusations, but his place was here, at the Arc, running simulation over and over again. Their home was doomed, no matter what the warring Clans below thought. The information, the studies, the actual Science in its entirety had been broadcast along the Vines for the past three cycles and still they argued and editorialised and fought and … He turned away from the windows and the people below, his fingerprints quickly evaporating in the chilled air and walked back into the darkened room to the Hub. Settling in the chair he waved his arm in the air in the familiar pattern for the Hub to recognise a command. [Hub is awake] the glowing ball intoned. “Hub, display latest projection”. [Projection #7,989a is not complete, progress at 73%]. Noah thought Hub almost sounded apologetic.

Noah grumbled at his own haste. AT 54 cycles old he knew better than to show the impatience and to wait for Hub to bring him the results. The door silently slid open and a child tiptoed in, standing by the door waiting to be addressed.

“Come to me my son” Noah smiled at the young boy in the dark and Ja-Peth ran to his father, something in his hand.

“I found a Melum in the city garden father!” he raised the flower to his father climbing onto his lap. “It’s the last one of the season and… I brought it for you and I thought…”. The flower’s crimson stem was still wet with sap. Noah took the flower understanding the boy’s need and added it to the floating box near the Hub.
[Sample found. Run analysis?] “Run!” Japeth yelled in the anticipation only young children full of hope can. The box grew lighter for a second then settled back into the dimness of the room. [Analysis complete, photosynthetic degradation at 45%. Mitochondrial deceleration present].

Ja-Peth frowned, his interest in the flower instantly gone and he climbed down from Noah’s lap to tip toe around Hub’s cranium peer into its lights.

“What did you expect my son?” Noah asked, his voice soft but tempered to teach. “I thought…maybe….the Melum looked so strong and so beautiful….that maybe it was proof of Reversal.” Ja-Peth sounded almost embarrassed, the older man he would perhaps become listening to his own childish thoughts. ‘Oh God please let there be an older man’ Noah thought as he got up and gathered Ja-Peth into his arms as always amazed at how fast Ja-Peth grew even on rations and in the thinning atmosphere.

“We will find a way.” Noah said “But..” “We will find a way. I will find a solution and we will survive but listen to me, it won’t be Reversal my son. Clan Remus repeat this lie so many times it becomes hope in their ears and the ears of fools.” Ja-Peth grinned, covering his ears and Noah grinned back, father and son in embrace on world that refused to believe it was dead.

[Projection #7,989a complete. Success.]

Both Noah and Ja-Peth froze. ‘Success’ was not a parameter Arc had uttered before. It was always a percentage followed by success and none of those percentages had been over 30 in all the three cycles Arc had run.

“Repeat, Arc” Noah’s voice trembled ever so slightly.

[Projection #7,989a complete. Success.]

“Show me” he whispered. Ja-Peth hid behind his father.

The space before them lit up with one word and Ja-Peth reached out as if he could touch the holographic letters;

‘Hadean’.
