[WP] You pass away and arrive at Heaven to find it run by common citizens after God and his angels deserted it a few years prior.

The Man in the Suit blinked and found himself in front of a gate. He tilted his head, looking at it curiously. His mind was fuzzy, like he'd just woken up and was trying to recall a dream. As he examined the great gate in front of him, he wondered what it was. It was certainly a very old gate. The white metal seemed to shine, but it was cracked and broken in places. The Man in the Suit stood there silently, just staring at it. Something was not quite right. What was he doing here?

Suddenly he noticed a figure standing in the distance, just to the side of the gate. The Man in the Suit quickly stepped towards the figure, calling out to him.

"Hello? Hello! sir?" The figure made no movement, but as the Man in the Suit continued to walk towards him, he saw that it was a young man standing by the gate. He too was wearing a suit, but it seemed more worn. Not messy, just... worn.

"Hello? Sir? Can you help me? I can't seem to recall where I am and..." The Man in the Suit was now in front of the other man. The two looked at each other silently for a moment, and he couldn't help but notice the other man looked a little tired. The other man smiled a little.

"Howdy, friend. Hope it wasn't too much trouble getting here."

The Man in the Suit shook his head. "No, no trouble... Where exactly is here?" He looked around. All he could see was the gate stretching in either direction beyond sight, and a thick, white mist all around.

The gatekeeper chuckled softly as he began rummaging in his jacket, pulling out a notepad. "Ah, glided right past the Purgs did ya? That's good, good for you. Alright, friend, what's your name?"

The Man in the Suit frowned, confused. "What? Listen, I don't know where I am. Do you think you could help me out? What is this place?"

The gatekeeper put a hand on his shoulder, and gave him that friendly, tired smile again. "Hey, friend, relax. Everything's fine, we get this a lot. Take another look, your standing in front of the pearly gates themselves!" He gestured towards the gate. "Now listen, friend, I gotta get your name."

The Man in the Suit looked at the gates, then back at the gatekeeper. "This... this is Heaven? I'm... I'm dead then... And you... You're Peter?" His heart was beginning to race. He couldn't remember anything before now, but it seemed to feel true.

The gatekeeper chuckled again. "No, sir. Paul actually, if you believe it. The other guys get a kick out of that." He noticed the Man in the Suit's frown. "Not the Paul, understand. No, sir, I'm just one of the gatekeepers around here. Now, friend, could I get that name of yours?"

The Man in the Suit looked around once more, trying to understand. "Gatekeepers?"

Paul nodded. "Yes, sir. There's not too many of us anymore. A lot of work, you understand. We do our best though. Trying to get all of you inside. Just be glad you're not one of those Purgs. Listen, friend, not that I mind talking to you, but I really gotta get your name."

"Purgs? What do you mean?"

Paul tapped the notepad with his pencil. "Yes, sir, the Purgs. You know, all them fellas lined up down there, might of saw them when you came up?" He paused, and when the Man in the Suit didn't respond, continued. "You read the Book, friend? You know, all them who dodged the pit but didn't quite make the gates? We call them Purgs. Yes, sir. Gives us quite the headache, I'll tell ya. Seeing as there's no one to take the prayers, I mean. Yes, sir, we try to get them in as fast as we can, but it's a whole lot of work. Most of them just stand around waiting for Charon to fit them in or something." He chuckled to himself at that. "So, friend, you got a name or what?"

The Man in the Suit stood there, trying to take it in. He didn't really understand, not quite. He had read the Bible, or at least he thought he had, but this didn't really seem like anything he'd heard of. Paul sniffed politely, and the Man in the Suit looked at him. "Oh. I'm sorry, I... I can't seem to recall my name."

Paul smiled again. "That's alright, friend, take your time. Just want to get things going if I can, understand. We don't require a whole lot here, no sir. We just take a name for the record and hope that everyone ended up where they belong. So, friend?"

The Man in the Suit nodded, thinking. Something flickered on the edge of his memory. Was it his name? He focused on it, and realized it was. It gave him some comfort. He told Paul.

"Alright, friend, thanks a lot. Listen, you need anymore help getting settled in, just come looking for old Paul here. Try to wait until I'm off gate duty though, if you can." He chuckled, then gestured to the gates. As the they slowly swung open, the Man in the Suit adjusted his tie, and stepped through.
