[WP] This is the prologue (or the first chapter) of the novel you've always wanted to write.

*Long ago, the earth was a desolate wasteland. There was nothing but the Goddess. With Her almighty breath, the Goddess breathed life into the world. The fish in the ocean, the animals in the fields, and the birds in the sky. And in Her image, She created mankind. The favourite of all Her creations.

From the seeds of Her creation, the Goddess chose four to rise above their mortal coil. Four to become immortal. Four to become divine.

In their ascension, the four took their place in the seats of the heavens. Worshipped along with the Goddess.

The divine beings became the five cycles of humanity, destined to repeat itself indefinitely. The Goddess, Her breath of life bringing creation, represented newborns, innocent and pure. Utos, the trickster, represented children, whimsical and playful. Vadite, the devil of destruction, represented the mature, passionate and stubborn. Odana, the muse of nostalgia, represented elders, regretful and calm. Edfur, the demon of death, represented the deceased, gone but not forgotten.

And so the four ruled, overlooking the earth and all its creations.

As humanity grew and worshipped the Goddess, they received Her blessing. Her children became powerful and strong, capable of bending the elements. And to one special child, the Goddesses’ favourite, he received something more. To her champion, he inherited the Breath of the Goddess, capable of almighty creation. Armed with Her power of sight, the champion performed a great sin. With a single breath, the earth became the desolate wasteland it once was. Ruled by Her champion.

Regretful of Her actions, the Goddess mourned humanity. But they were strong. They survived to live another day.

The Goddess then chose four more champions, to undo the mistake She had made. The first inherited the Mind of Odana, meant to ease the pain of those soon to pass. The second inherited the Luck of Utos, meant to bring joy to the lives of others. The third inherited the Soul of Edfur, meant to drain of blood of the wicked. And the fourth inherited the Flames of Vadite, meant to destroy the breath of the original champion.

From humanity to divine, from divine back to humanity. This is the myth of the Goddess.*
