[WP] You're the king on the chessboard. Describe the battlefield as the hands of the gods move your army from square to square.

I used this as my prompt for an english writing assignment. Sorry for basically giving definitions for some of the words.

I had never believed in destiny… but our people’s fate no longer rested in my hands. As the king of Farseal, it was my responsibility to lead our people to victory. But unbeknownst to my people, I was not truly the one in control. When it was time for battle I lost control, and some higher being, God perhaps, made the decisions for me. I had always believed in a higher force. My people knew that I possessed piety, and they followed my belief in God because they trusted me. This fight was against a malevolent king, one who tortured both his people and those he conquered, brutally killing even innocent women and children. Unlike this king I was benevolent. My people loved me and I loved them back, I would never fight if it wasn’t to protect my kingdom. I had requested a peace treaty with them, but after giving me a condescending sneer he merely laughed at my ignorance. He thought he was better than us. I left, a look of mortification on my face, too embarrassed to keep talking to him. I could not surrender to him, the peril of him killing us was too great. He was a dangerous and untrustworthy enemy, I could not count on him sparing our lives. The battle was about to begin. Quickly I prayed for an auspicious God, someone who would lead us to victory over these fiends, to lead my people to triumph. A feeling I had grown accustomed to crept from my stomach to my fingers, enveloping me. The first time this happened I was scared, but by now I was accustomed to it. The other me spoke firmly to the generals: “Move our center right infantry forward forward as reconnaissance. We need people to see what the enemy is doing and report to us.” Our troops moved as directed, but the enemy did not react. They moved sluggishly, their cavalry just barely advancing. With a flurry of commands I shouted, “Bishop! Lead your soldiers diagonally! Queen move diagonally then forward!” I awaited them to obey my orders placidly, calmly thinking about what moves I would make if I could command my people. A look of triumph appeared on my face, but it was not my own. These few moves had subtly done more than just pin them. The fight was over, and neither I nor the enemy saw it at first. Then it clicked. We had defeated their massive army with only four moves? Incomprehensible! Something like this should not be possible! I could not wrap my mind around what had just happened. From across the battlefield I saw a look of bewilderment form on the other king’s countenance. His jaw was dropped and his eyes bulging. He never would have expected something as miraculous as a four move victory. It must truly have been a God controlling me. I smile slowly crept onto my face. “Checkmate.”
