I Was Wrong About Trump Supporters: FIFA 16 Wimbly Womblys #80

Man, I kind of feel like we're in a Holden Caulfield situation where you're trying to explain to me something that really matters to you on an emotional level, and I'm like -- yes, that's fine, I agree with all of that, it just has nothing to do with anything we were talking about.

Like, the conversation John started is whether Nerdfighteria should have Trump supporters or whether it's okay for Nerdfighters to dismiss all Trump supporters or whether Trump supporters should feel welcome in Nerdfighteria. That's the conversation. By the way, this part "I've found that these people, rather than acknowledging that larger harm that they might be contributing to and explaining why their reasons outweigh that, will instead" is the kind of part I'm talking about. Don't judge individual people based on your interaction with other people that belong to the same group that they belong to. That's the basis of discriminatory thinking and it shouldn't happen in nerdfighteria. That's what I'm saying.

But since this topic does seem to be very important to you, I will weigh in:

Trump's possible influence on the planet and everything his presidency would do is not as clear cut as you're saying, and no one can predict the future. It's fine to argue that a Trump presidency would make the world worst, but you're acting like it's a fact, and it unfortunately just isn't.

This is also besides the point that I think it's a silly and pointless exercise to even categorize people based on what passive damage they're doing to the world. Like, every second you spent replying to me could've been spent helping out in a homeless shelter, every dollar anyone spends on themselves could have been spent in charity. Vegetarians and vegans will argue that people are increasing worldsuck by eating meat. There are certain people who would argue that John's existence as a writer/movie-producer/vlogger is increasing worldsuck because he is male, and we need more women in these jobs, and perhaps if John wasn't as famous as he was there would be a different female author to take his place in the YA world.

Those are all possible things to argue. And I think it's a pointless argument. I don't think it's an interesting argument. I don't think there's a point in saying that some passive action someone else is committing is making the world look less like the way you want the world to look like.

Evidently, people who vote Trump are doing so because they believe that Trump will make the country and the world a better place. You may disagree with that, and you can tell them all of that, and I encourage you to tell them all of that, but it has nothing to do with anything I said. That's all.
