I understand this line of thinking. I used to live in China and experienced many shocking things there. I am no fan of the CCP and I used to say the same thing to 'defend' the USA. But

to have a balanced discussion

we should remember Ken Saro-Wiwia, John Trudell (his children), the Guatemalan genocide, Michael Hastings, Rafael Trujillo, the My Lai massacre, not to mention MLK, JFK, Marilyn, and the jailing and torture of countless able-bodied men who were simply guilty of being poor and disenfranchised and dispossessd of the clout required to get any basic human rights in daily life. The USA has attacked its own people and anyone else for that matter for various and sundry reasons, since its founding.
