Y'all had me thinking these leaks contained the meaning of life lol it's like maybe an actual 120 unheard songs... the majority lofi/unmastered/unfinished. It is really bizarre how highly-regarded the leaks are... I am assuming most are too close to Ye/'s fandom to really see them more objectively.

IMO the idea that "leaks have become part of the culture" is something that happened by force, not by choice. Every artist it happens to is being hostage to release stuff whether they finished it or if they feel in the right place for that sound etc.

Record labels exploiting artists became "part of the art" but it was protested and continues to be stopped every year (more rights for artists in impossible contracts.)

I get that leaks can create feedback -- like Ye playing Donda material, that is cool. That's not a leak, that's Ye debuting material and doing what you're saying -- taking the feedback after making the decision to preview material.

Leaks, as-is, are typically taken against-the-will of artists from spare harddrives that ultimately are the property of the artist.
