Yankees Off Day Thread - August 11, 2022 @ 12:00 AM

People complain about how the Yankees have been playing but they forget that 41 of the Yankees next 50 games are either against divisional opponents (28 Games) or against below .500 teams outside of their division (13 Games), there are only 9 games left for the Yankees against above .500 teams outside of the Al east (2 vs Mets at home, 4 vs twins at home, and 3 vs brewers at home). The Yankees are 32-16 within their division which is good for a .667 winning percentage, and are 24-6 against losing teams from other divisions good for a .800 winning percentage. Against teams from other divisions who are at or above .500 the Yankees are 15-19 which is a .441 winning percentage.

On another note I have a theory that Boone is deliberately punting games because he knows that starting on Friday 82% of the Yankees remaining games are within the division or against garbage teams where the Yankees have gone 56-22 (.718%). He only would care about putting his best lineup out there if Houston is starting to get hot, he is sitting around because Houston is barely playing above .500 since the all star break, and doesn’t feel like the games are important. It is a fucking stupid mentality, sure if it works the Yankees could in theory go 5-4 or 6-3 against the Mets, Twins, and Brewers, and proceed to destroy every other team remaining on their schedule en route to 110 or 111 wins, likely snatching the top seed in the American League from Houston by a small margin. However, the postseason is a different story. We will see what happens though.
